Sanxiantai (Terrace of the three Immortals)

Situated at the 111-kilometer mark on the coastal highway, Sanxiantai consists of a headland facing a small island in the sea. The three huge rocks that make up the island's most prominent feature have given rise to a local legend that three of China's Eight Immortals once landed there; hence the name of the island, which means "terrace of the three immortals." The island is surrounded by coral reefs and a multitude of tropical fish, making this an ideal spot for skin diving.

Water Running Up

Around Dulan Fishing Bridge and halfway up the hill, visitors could see a stone with inscriptions of "Qiguan" (A Spectacular View) in red, standing alongside the road. A narrow ditch lies next to the stone and water in the ditch runs upwards against gravity. The site is a famous amazement that always attracts the passersby. In fact, the tilting angle of roadside landscape larger than that of the road surface is the secret behind the illusion.

The unique geological landscape of Xiaoyeliu is a result of inverted sandstone and mudstone layers. Amazing rocky formations are found on the trail, such as shapes of a mushroom, tofu, and coral reef. The broad grass land of the Jialulan Recreation Area at the north is decorated with art fixtures of primitive-looking driftwood. The area is ideal to gaze into the night sky and listen to nature's concerto of tides.

Jialulan Recreation Area is near the 157.7km point of No.11 Provincial Highway. Formerly as the waste soil site when the air force constructed Jhihhang base airport, it was planned by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration and later developed in ecological engineering methods. Now it has become a quite popular recreation area. Its annually held handicraft marketplace also receives a fervent response. No wonder Jialulan Recreation Area has become both a natural.

Taiwan International Balloon Festival

Visitors enjoyed the summer sunshine on the Luye Gaotai while watching hot air balloons float through air gracefully, adding color to the blue sky over Taitung and giving visitors a memorably enjoyable time as they watched the balloons carry hopes and dreams into the air.

Brown Avenue

A small country avenue in Chihshang Township of Taitung County becomes widely popular due to a commercial of Mr. Brown Coffee. It is called a “green road of paradise.” It has vast green rice fields without a wire pole along the roadside. You can truly feel how borderless it is. The avenue has good views for photograph and can bring your mind away from the hustle. Come to experience such pure relief in person.

King Kong Avenue

Spectacular Rice Field of Changbin Township along King Kong Avenue. Every year, there is King Kong Marathon held here. On the way, runners run with spectacular scenery of the sea waves and rice field wave, so called dual-wave, along the race course.

Ke Chen Bridge and Golden Shower Tree Viewing

Ke Chen Bridge is one of the hotspot for photographers. You can take the photo of the train and paddy. During the fallow time, the paddy field will turn into colorful flower sea, which makes the spot a must-go for not only professional photographer but everyone.

Starbucks Hualien Bay

Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the entire store is made from 29 large shipping containers painted white and stacked at random to give off a sleek minimalist and grunge aesthetic. The exterior isn’t the only thing that’s Instagrammable – thanks to the stacking of the containers, the interior is constantly lit with natural sunlight pouring in, creating a cosy and warm atmosphere!

Taroko National Park

Taroko became a national park in 1986, including Hualien County, Nantou County and Taichung City. Taroko is famous for its spectacular mountains and marble canyons. Cliffs and canyons stretch along Liwu River. Four million years ago, the island of Taiwan was formed by the collision of plates. After millions of years of wind erosion, the marble rocks were exposed and cut by Liwu River, creating impressive grand canyons. From Qingshui to Nanhu Peak, the drop height is 3,742 meters. Such special geography has also bred special flora and fauna in this area.

Cingshuei Cliff

Qingshui Cliff, located on the section of the Suao-Hualien Highway that stretches between Heping and Chongde stations, is one of the most spectacular sights on Taiwan's Pacific coast. The cliff is more than 1,000 meters high and drops almost vertically into the sea. The highway snakes along its curving face more than 20 kilometers, with the sheer cliff rising on one side and a sheer drop to the ocean on the other.

Jimmy Park

The Jimmy Square used to be an old railway staff dormitory; it was later transformed into the transit center of long-haul buses. As Yilan happens to be the hometown of the famous illustrator, with the theme of “in memory of the transient scenery”, he created the first square in Taiwan featuring his own illustrations, in Yilan. The square still maintains the original historic buildings and old trees.

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 was accomplished in 2004 at the height of 509.2 meter. At that time, it was crowned the tallest building in the world and now the 8th. Visitors can take the super-fast elevator from 5th floor to the observatory deck on 87th in just 37 seconds. It is simply the best spot to enjoy the city view from atop.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is located in the heart of Taipei City. The area is 250,000 square meters and it is the attraction most visited by foreign tourists. Outside the gate of Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, there are poles carrying the sign of true rightness. The great building has become a landmark of Taipei City. There are also places for international art performances. They are National Theater and National Concert Hall. World famous musicians (such as the great cello performer Yo Yo Ma and the great violinist Shao Lian Lin) and renowned playgroups have conducted performance here.

One of the most popular destination for tourists, the Ximending Pedestrian Area is the centre of the district, and accessible from Exit 6 of Ximen Station. Ximending is the mecca for youth culture. From Tattoo Street to Wannian Plaza accessory shops, cosplay to street dancing, Ximending offers a venue for youths to express themselves.
