Rainbow Military Dependents’ Village

Rainbow Military Dependents’ Village is located at Nantun District, Taichung City. All of the paintings on the house walls here were made by Grandpa Rainbow, Mr. Huang Yung-Fu. The colorful artworks show elements of the village and Grandpa Rainbow’s creativity, full of childlike fun. Visitors from all over the world have come here to take pictures of the art. The village is a highly popular tourist attraction in Taichung.


Miyahara was established in 1927 and soon became the largest ophthalmology clinic in the Taichung area. However, as time passed, the old and run down clinic gradually turned into an unsafe structure. Later, Taichung’s cake and confectionary enterprise, Richu, moved in and remodeled the space by adding modern equipment and design elements, and turning it into the company's most popular flagship store. When you visit Miyahara, you must try its signature ice cream. The numerous flavors and secret recipe make it irresistible.

Fengjia Night Market

The Fengjia Night Market is one of Taichung's famous commercial business districts, covering approximately one kilometer in diameter around Feng Chia University and includes the Fengjia-Wenhua Night Market, Fengjia Rd., and Fuxing Rd.


National Taichung Theater

National Taichung Theater is a public performance space designed by Japanese well-known architect Toyo Ito. The modern design is based on “Culvert” concept. With curved walls, holes and tubes, yet not a single poles or beams in the entire building.

Painted Animated Lane

Just off the main road, it would be easy to miss this narrow street packed with fun street art. Both are accurate descriptions of this tiny space with street art depicting characters including Super Mario, Lilo & Stitch, Popeye, Mr Bean, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweetie Pie, Angry Birds as well as Japanese anime including One Piece and Tororo.

Shen Ji New Village

Shen Ji New Village is a dorm compound built by the Taiwan Provincial Government nearly half a century ago to accommodate employees of the auditing office. As the government restructured, the dorms were left unused for years. With the government’s revitalization plans, the historic village is now transformed into a lively and innovative base for young entrepreneurs to start their businesses.

Lihpao Land

Lihpao Resort Discovery World is 25 hectares wide, and it encompasses 6 live performing groups, 10 gift shops, 20 restaurants, 8 food stalls, and 23 amusement rides. Future World, Magical Castle, the Enchanted Forest and the Fairytale Village all have their own exclusive merchandise for customers. The objective of the Resort is to let visitors experience the fun of water in an exotic atmosphere, along with the service of trained staff.


The Jiji Train Station Checheng

Built in 1933, the Jiji Train Station is an ancient train station easily identified for its cypress design. It is the landscape of the Jiji Township and also the most well known terminal station on the Jiji route; this station was destroyed in the 921 Earthquake but later reconstructed and restored to its original look. Since then, it has attracted lots of tourists.

Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area

The Sun Moon Lake, located in the middle of Taiwan, with an elevation of 748 meters above sea level, is the only natural big lake in Taiwan. The southern part of Lalu Island is shaped like a new moon, and the northern part is shaped like a sun; hence the name Sun Moon Lake.

The Toushe Basin

The Toushe Basin is the third largest basin in Yuchih Township, with an area of 1.7 square kilometers. This used to be a lake, but it gradually became silted in and the water slowly retreated, causing it to became a swamp. So while the early Chinese settlers never had to worry about water for irrigation, the swamp made the land difficult to cultivate.

Ita Thao Lakeside Trail

The trail begins from the Chunghwa Telecom Building, and leads to Xuanzang Temple. It is 2,400 meters in length. Tourists can visit the temples via the trail, thus it is also regarded as a "Pilgrim Path".

Atayal Resort

Atayal Resort lies in Nantou County, between the Guandao Mountains and Beigang River. The resort was planned and established by people who loved the Atayal Aboriginal Tribe. There were a lot of Atayal indigenous living in Nantou County in the past; thus, Nantou is full of characteristics of Atayal. The resort features the natural environment, Atayal culture and recreation. Visitors can take a good rest and learn more about the Atayal Tribe after visiting Atayal Resort.


Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

To commemorate former Taiwan president Chiang Kai-Shek, this architecture is built referring to the rooftop of Beijing Temple of Heaven and the shape of Pyramid. National Theater and National Concert Hall with ancient Chinese palace style design sit on either side. Grand front square and changing of the guard at 9 am and 5 pm make it a must-visit location.

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 was accomplished in 2004 at the height of 509.2 meter. At that time, it was crowned the tallest building in the world and now the 8th. Visitors can take the super-fast elevator from 5th floor to the observatory deck on 87th in just 37 seconds. It is simply the best spot to enjoy the city view from atop.

Raohe Night Market

One of the oldest night markets in Taipei, the Raohe Street Night Market is a must visit destination! The epitome of a traditional Taiwanese night market, this 600 meters path along Raohe Street in Songshan District is packed with fun and interesting night foods and snacks, quaint shops and stalls, and carnival games with prizes.


Yehliu Geopark

Yeliu GeoPark, located at North Coast, is a cape part of Datun Mountain that stretches into the sea. The terrain, under erosion, weathering effect and crust movement, is shaped into many unique geological phenomena. The famous Queen’s Head and Candlestick Rock can be seen here.

Heping Island Park

It is located at the north of Taiwan. Heping Bridge connects the island to Keelung City. In 1626, the Spanish army built castles, churches and fortresses, preparing to do business with China and Japan. The castle on the southwest is called San Salvador, the saint savior. This is the first and currently the only castle in Keelung. During the Spanish occupation, Heping Island had busy trading activities with Southeast Asia. After World War II, the island was renamed Heping Island. Today, it is a famous tourist attraction.

Zhengbin Fishing Port Nostalgia Pier

The Port is built by the Japanese in 1934, and it was the biggest fishing port in Taiwan during the Japanese era. Although it gradually diminished afterward, its down-to-earth appearance endures. The city is actively seeking to preserve it as a place for relaxation and nostalgia. There has been a boat named “Folk Art” at Zhengbin Fishing Port Nostalgia Pier. It was the first art museum on the sea. Besides, there has been also held dragon boat race and some activities, which were quite popular.

Yinyang Sea

The Yinyang sea is a natural occurrence formed by minerals, featuring the “half gold, half bluish green” sea water. After the river from Jingguashi mountain area high in minerals meets the sea, it forms the half golden, half bluish green spectacle at the river mouth all year long. If there is time, visit the popular photo site “Yinyang sea C curve”. Hike to overlook the magnificent Yinyang sea and C shaped bay. It is a very popular photo site for rail, morning views and sunsets.

Golden Waterfall

The “Golden Waterfall is located right beside the road at ShueiNanDong. One can see water gushing out from underground. Seen from afar it looks like a gigantic wall of golden rock cliff, reputed as the “Golden Waterfall” by later generations for the spectacle.


Jiufen was once a major gold mining town and is now a popular spot for tourists to experience a taste of history. The name“Jiufen”, which literally means“nine pieces”in Mandarin, comes from a legend whenever one family goes grocery shopping, they would buy nine portions for other eight families.

Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival

Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival was voted by the Discovery Channel as the second biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in the world, a festival whose sky lanterns carry the prayers and vows of the people and by which they seek the purification of their souls, a festival that advertises the Taiwan spirit to the world.
The visual enjoyment of his fantastic and magnificent sight transcends cultural barriers so when festival time arrives each year, Pingxi is always overwhelmed with visitors.


Fu Hang Soy Milk

This breakfast stall in Huashan Market constantly attracts long queues so come early for your morning fix. The crowds are here just for the food - their deep-fried dough stick, freshly roasted buns from a tandoor oven, egg crepes, and savoury or sweet soy milk have been the quintessential breakfast for many local.
