Day1

Lanyang Museum

The building incorporates the shape of the cuestas commonly seen along the Beiguan Coast. To also present the seasonal colors of the Yilan Plain, the exterior walls were built with quality stones combined and arranged; the inspiration was the melody of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The walls mimic cuestas’ stone patterns as the color changes with the seasons and the light and shadow alter.

Jiaoxi

Jiaoxi is a township in the north of Yilan County. Its natural underground hot spring makes it one of Taiwan’s most favored weekend hideouts. The hot spring water is very clear and without sulfur smell, with an average temperature of around 50 degrees Celsius.

Day2

National Center for Traditional Arts

A recreated traditional Taiwanese block, the cultural park consists of “three halls, three streets and three buildings”. Bringing back traditional handcraft and folk activities in actual scene demonstration, the Park turns back time to the ancient Yilan for visitors to experience the many aspects of classic art and culture.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

To commemorate former Taiwan president Chiang Kai-Shek, this architecture is built referring to the rooftop of Beijing Temple of Heaven and the shape of Pyramid. National Theater and National Concert Hall with ancient Chinese palace style design sit on either side. Grand front square and changing of the guard at 9 am and 5 pm make it a must-visit location.

Dadaocheng

In Dadaocheng, you will see extravagant Baroque architecture, traditional Hokkien bungalows and brilliant red-brick western houses. Historical buildings, traditional folklore center, tea houses, fabric stores, Chinese pharmacy and local eateries alike are rich in history. A new everyday-aesthetics derives in the vintage neighborhoods of Dadaocheng where century-old stores meet with contemporary innovation.

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 was accomplished in 2004 at the height of 509.2 meter. At that time, it was crowned the tallest building in the world and now the 8th. Visitors can take the super-fast elevator from 5th floor to the observatory deck on 87th in just 37 seconds. It is simply the best spot to enjoy the city view from atop.

Day3

Yehliu

Yeliu GeoPark, located at North Coast, is a cape part of Datun Mountain that stretches into the sea. The terrain, under erosion, weathering effect and crust movement, is shaped into many unique geological phenomena. The famous Queen’s Head and Candlestick Rock can be seen here.

Jiufen Town

Jiufen was once a major gold mining town and is now a popular spot for tourists to experience a taste of history. The name “Jiufen”, which literally means “nine pieces” in Mandarin, comes from a legend whenever one family goes grocery shopping, they would buy nine portions for other eight families.

Shifen

Located in the Pingxi area, Shifen Old Street is a collection of lanes and alleys in and around the Shifen railway station area. The station is located in a scenic area that greets visitors with beautiful waterfalls and streams.
